The Library is managed by a separate Library Board who oversees all personnel and finances of the Library. This seven (7) member Board is specially created under City Ordinance and Minnesota State Statute. In addition, the Shaw Memorial Library Foundation also provides financial support to the library. This foundation operates separately from the Library Board.

  • Can my library card be used at other libraries?

    Your library card is good throughout the State of Minnesota and City of Superior.

  • Does the library have children's programs?

    Yes, the Cloquet Public Library offers Children and Teen programs year round. For more information, please click here to view their website.

  • Does the library have computers that can be used by the general public?

    There are several computers with Internet access. Some computers also have Microsoft Office installed including Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Wi-Fi access is available for people who want to bring in their own laptop computers.

  • Does the library loan out items other than books and magazines? Is there a cost?

    The library loans out books, books on tape and cd, music cd’s, dvds, videos, and toys. There is no charge as long as the materials are returned on time. Materials returned after their due date will receive a small late fee penalty.

  • Is the Cloquet library associated with the Arrowhead Library system?

    Yes. Internet service and online catalog are shared with the Arrowhead Library System. Library materials may be loaned from libraries throughout Minnesota. The library’s catalog and catalogs of other libraries may be found at the library’s web site: Also available through the website are e-books, downloadable audio books, full text magazine articles and other research resources.

  • What are the hours of the library?

    Monday thru Thursday: 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    Friday: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
    Saturday, Closed until Labor Day
    Sunday, Closed
